Most of us have a bucket list, a list of things we wish to do and experience before we leave this mortal world. I certainly do, as I have touched on in previous posts to this blog. The Lord has blessed me enough that I have been able to cross many items off of my original list and replace them with new ones.

One item on my list that has persisted is attending a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrisson, Colorado, just outside of Denver. A confluence of factors created the right opportunity recently and Miss B and I booked the trip.

I will preface the following by saying that I prefer to keep this space a place of positivity. There was a lot about Colorado that I did not enjoy, but seeing Red Rocks was amazing and I wish to focus on that.

The trip started off roughly as our flight from Baltimore to Denver was delayed and re-routed, costing us several precious hours, as we only had about two days in Colorado. When we finally arrived in Denver, it was to pouring rain and fog. All things beyond our control. .C'est la vie.

After checking into the hotel, we were able to make our dinner reservation at a place called The Fort, which was an adobe-style establishment in Morrisson, Colorado, not far from Red Rocks. It had a very cool atmosphere and the food was okay, but at the prices, I cannot, in good conscience, give it my recommendation.

We took the opportunity to drive into the mountains around Red Rocks. To say they were simply breathtaking would do their beauty a great disservice. The photos I took and ones you may have seen do them no justice, particularly when you stand there looking up at them.

Wednesday evening, we turned in somewhat early due to a long day of traveling and a two hour time difference. On Thursday morning, we got up early and had a great breakfast at a diner called The Breakfast Queen. Of course, I opted for the Denver omelet. It was fantastic, as was the service.

On a whim, we headed to Boulder to see the Mork & Mindy House. That led us to a cool walking mall called the Pearl Street Mall, which had tons of shops, including a dangerously inviting bookstore. Miss B got in plenty of her favorite activity- shopping- before we returned to Denver for the concert that evening.

For those that may not know, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is built into the side of a mountain. It can be quite a hike to get to it, but it is worth every step. The views are awe-inspiring.

As for the concert itself, we saw Charles Wesley Godwin. Apparently, this is the third time I've seen him and yet, I could not tell you a single song of his. He is one of Miss B's favorites and I try to be a good sport. To look out over the stage and see the Denver skyline in the distance; to look left and right and see towering, majestic rock formations, it could have been a guy playing the kazoo and the 1,600+ trip would have been well worth it.

In our travels around Colorado, we just happened to pass one of the 13 remaining Original Hamburger Stands. Of course, I had to stop. I ordered a Junkyard Burger and it did not disappoint.

Colorado certainly has their fair share of drawbacks, as all states have, but I am glad that I was blessed with the opportunity to see Red Rocks and to cross another item off the bucket list.

Thanks for reading and I'll talk to you soon.
