I noticed that I have not posted a new blog entry in 2025. What was originally intended to be a weekly endeavor has evolved into a rigorous whenever-I-remember schedule.

If you are reading this, I have to assume you are most interested in the writing aspect of my life, so let's start there. I won't set any timelines on the long-awaited third Clay Sullivan book, as I have previously set several such deadlines that have come and gone. However, I will say that work continues, and it seems that it will be significantly longer than "Dead Man's Breath" and "The Raven Conspiracy". The third one has to be the best, in every possible way.

Once the 3rd book is published, I look forward to getting out for some appearances/signings at bookstores, as well as the book convention circuit. If there is a bookstore or book convention in your area that you would like me to appear at, comment or send me a message via the contact page. Once appearances are confirmed, they will be posted on the News & Events page on this website.

I am amassing quite a collection of rejected short stories, some of which will make it into a book of short stories someday. In the meantime, I will continue to write and submit short stories until one is actually accepted and published.

Recently, Miss B and I took a day trip to New York City where the above photo was taken atop the Empire State Building, which is an experience I highly recommend should you ever have the opportunity. The centerpiece of the trip was seeing Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. If you are a devout reader of this space, you are well aware of my extreme admiration of both William Shakespeare and Mr. Washington, so I will not subject you to my biased review. Needless to say, I enjoyed the performance very much.

Summer is right around the corner, and I am looking forward to a somewhat slower paced summer than in years past. I don't anticipate as much traveling and only have a few concerts scheduled. Gardening, home repairs/improvements, pool time, reading and writing are on the agenda. I do hope to get in more kayaking and hiking in than I got in last summer.

What am I currently reading?

Currently, I am reading The League of Frightened Men by Rex Stout, though the going is slow, as I tend not to read much when I'm in "writer mode".

If you want to keep up with what I am reading, follow me on Goodreads.

What am I currently watching?

We're deep into college baseball and softball seasons, so that means I'm catching as many Tennessee games as possible on TV. I even snuck in a weekend in Florida back in February for several Lady Vols games in person, then went to Knoxville earlier this month for a softball game and a baseball.

In terms of scripted TV, I am enjoying MobLand, starring Tom Hardy Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, on Paramount+. An amazing cast, set in London (one of my favorite places), and an intriguing plot make this show a winner in my book.

As a self-confessed Sherlock Holmes 'fanboy", Sherlock and Daughter on The CW and Watson on CBS are also on my DVR list. As both are relatively new, I am reserving judgement for now.

I also discovered that Prime Video had the 80's series Spenser For Hire available, so I started working my way through the episodes to satisfy my need for nostalgia.

What am I currently listening to?

I'm listening to a lot of David Nail, as usual. Maybe more than usual, since I will be seeing him live in concert on Memorial Day when he comes to Leesburg, Virginia.

Here is a good one from David that sometimes gets overlooked.

I'm also listening to a lot of L.A. Guns (who I'll see in concert later this week), Sturgill Simpson/Johnny Blue Skies, and Jackson Dean.

Thanks for reading and I'll talk to you soon!
